Hugger orange with black accents was common on late 60's Camaros and the like. I'm exactly not sure why it was embraced by older imports, too, but you'll see a lot of orange 240Zs (for example) with black hoods... (I think there was a 240Z racecar that used that scheme).
My 240Z has the exact same scheme. I think 300ZXs look better monotone, though.
